Erik Lohse
Head Coach
Coach Erik’s lifelong passion for sports began in childhood, playing backyard games and excelling in multiple team sports. A standout athlete, he was a 3-sport All-League player in high school and competed at an elite level through summer leagues like Chico American Legion Baseball and the Sparks Nevada travel team. After graduating in 1998, Erik was offered a scholarship to play at CSU Long Beach and was selected in the MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox, marking the beginning of his professional baseball journey.
Erik’s playing career spanned several respected programs and professional organizations. He played collegiate baseball for Butte College and Sacramento City College, competed in the Central Illinois Collegiate League with the Danville Dans, and was drafted multiple times—ultimately signing with the Minnesota Twins in 2001. He spent several years playing professionally with both the Twins and Cincinnati Reds systems until injuries led to his early retirement from pro baseball. Transitioning into golf, Erik developed into a competitive player and later became a respected instructor at Bidwell Golf Course in Chico. His love for teaching and deep knowledge of athletics inspired him to return to his first love—baseball—and in 2024, he founded Lohse Baseball Academy to mentor and develop the next generation of players.
